POLITICAL JUNKIE BLUES

It is hard to be a political junkie, as Linden is, and not have enough time to adequately keep feeding one's biased opinions. Between Linden's own fractured attempt to cover every possible base in regard to his own campaign, his upcoming CD introduction (see yesterday's posting) and the other demands of daily living, there seems to be little time for attention to the larger political picture. Maybe in another eight days or so he can return to that.

Tuesday brought the usual blog posting followed by the also usual meeting with some guys for coffee. It was good to see Ron there: He has been out of action for a while recovering from an operation. This was followed by two time consuming political efforts and a trip to Indianapolis to see the doctor.

On the personal front, Linden made a "happy birthday" call to son, Brian, and received a message from daughter, Julie. She expects to check into the hospital on Wednesday and have labor induced Thursday. There are many things more important than political campaigns!!

CD, BOOKS & CAMPAIGN

Linden does not totally enjoy being as busy as he has been lately! A CD introduction is scheduled for Saturday morning, May 3 from 10:00 to noon at The Uncommon Corner bookstore in downtown Plainfield and from 1:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon at Secondhand Stories bookstore located in the strip mall at the corner of Raceway and Rockville roads.

Linden started the following poem/song: The melody is "The First Noel".

Linden's CD

His first CD
All the critics did say
Was not as bad
As some that they play. (maybe more later)

It is a worrysome and unfortunate fact that Lindenwould Publishing is a for profit corporation. Very, very few people had pre release access to the CD "Songs A Poor Old Police Department Retiree Might Write While Waiting For His Meager Pension Check". If Linden performed the copy and paste functions correctly, two very much appreciated CD related comments follow.

Bravo! Great Job! I enjoyed all songs! I can feel the emotions! I can feel the tears! I can feel how your throat closes when the pain is coming! I can hear the smiles, the friendship, the love! I can hear people in the mountain! I can hear the difficult day on the railroad! I can feel the prayer for guidance from the Holy Spirit!

What a wonderful surprise -- the mailman brought a copy of the latest recording by the soon-to-be-Grammy-nominated artist, Linden Swift! I have listened to the entire thing -- a few songs more than once -- and was determined to tell you which were my favorites. I am stumped, though. I think "Frog Pond" is my favorite but "Golden Years" has much to recommend it, "Fam'ly and Friends" may be a very close second, and how could I not love "I'm Gonna Get Even with You"? Alex and Amber and I were all singing the chorus to "It's a Sometimes World" -- I could go on and on. Congratulations, my friend -- you have really accomplished something here!I have a question. The picture on the back of the insert -- of the 4th of July reunion -- is that you and Rubye in the back/center? And is Peter Smith in the front right playing the guitar? I am not sure about Lisa; she could possibly be the woman behind Peter (with a different hair color and style) or maybe she isn't in the picture at all. Anyway, inquiring minds want to know. (If I'm right, I spotted you and Rubye but Amber picked out Peter.)

Is Linden blessed or what!! In closing, each of his six book titles will be available for purchase at the CD introduction. Campaign activities continue.

LAST APRIL WEEKEND

LAST APRIL WEEKEND
Now one weekend between the present and election day: Linden is ready - not in regard to election prep but ready for it to be behind us.

Friday brought the normal Men's Prayer Breakfast and blog posting followed by several election related tasks, welcome emails from Austria, the normal life maintenance tasks and mailing the sales tax report for Linden's publishing empire.

Saturday was a day of breakage: a saucer, the plastic holder for the flexible shower head holder and (worst of all) the connection between the commode flush lever and the flapper. Makes flushing more manual but, regardless, there is no fixing of anything planned until after the election. Linden had more election related activities and a nice call from an acquaintance who is recommending a candidate for State Attorney General (Linden should be a voting attendee of the Republican State convention.) Received a most welcome email from a Minister met in Austria last year: he and his family live in Belarus. He said that Easter is celebrated in Eastern Europe on April 27. It had been months since his last message: His Easter message should appear at the end of this posting.

Sunday brought Church, Sunday School, brunch with friends, paper reading and, in the evening, a pitch-in dinner at Church followed by evening services. Derek Dickinson, for whom we provide some support for his church planting effort in Fairbanks. Alaska, was the featured speaker. Good day! Tomorrow is the due date for Julie and Kenneth's first child.
-----
EASTER

Daylight turned into darkness when Jesus was dying on the cross. Luke described it as “the sun was darkened”. The longest night came to earth, which began “about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth” (Luke 23:44-45). The darkness of this long night disappeared and the first sunbeams shed light on Earth when Christ was risen! The tomb was empty and stone was rolled away! “The angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it” (Math. 28:2)
During these wonderful days of celebration I wish dark nights of problems to get enlightened by resurrection of Christ. I also want a heavenly messenger who sat upon a stone by the tomb to remind us that there are no hopeless situations.
Happy Easter, dear Linden! Christ is risen – Indeed is risen!

ODD JOB CLEANUP

-----
ODD JOB CLEANUP
As the days speed by, Linden is now in the campaign stage of attempting to attend to last minute desirable actions. Hopefully having his first CD production introduction at two local bookstores just days before the election will have no adverse effect on that election. The CD, containing 13 of Linden's original songs, has been in the "hope to accomplish" stage for a long period of time. Probably the most worthwhile campaign related task accomplished on Thursday was the completion of a rather large mailing.

Although there simply is not time enough for Linden to read in depth nearly all the items of interest to him, there were two that caught his eye on Thursday. One, an Associated Press issue by Nancy Zuckerbrod, concerned a student who lodged a complaint about suspected inaccuracies in a text book. The complaint seemed to center on the global warming issue. Linden could find little worthy of lodging a complaint about in the textbook excerpts.

The other item of interest concerned the supposed opposition of John McCain to the approach of Linda Daves, The North Carolina Republican Party Chairman, in regard to playing a portion of a sermon delivered by a friend of candidate Obama. Linden could find nothing to warrant opposition to such an educational effort and, further, believes that Daves may be a reasonable selection for the Vice President candidate slot.

HELP WANTED

It appears that in the last general election there were no Republican candidates in 39 districts scattered across 15 states. These positions offer much more than just good pay. Some of these districts are listed below in State, District and general location sequence. Please help find a Republican candidate in these districts. Even if these districts can reasonably be considered “lost causes,” the effected taxpayers need to have a choice.

Pennsylvania 1 Philadelphia area
Pennsylvania 14 Pittsburgh area

Rhode Island 2 Warwick area

Texas 9 Houston area – One Found?
Texas 16 El Paso
Texas 20 San Antonio
Texas 28 Laredo

Virginia 3 Newport News area

In recent ratings, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste considered 32 of the present officeholders (democrats) to be hostile, 6 unfriendly, and 1 lukewarm to taxpayers. The National Taxpayers Union granted a grade of “F” to 36 of this group while 3 of them rose to a “D”.
-----
WHAT IF?

Surely you believe that the liberal dominated news media is very, very selective in what “news” they will print or report. Have you noticed the absence of reporting about the improved situation in Iraq? There are, of course, other examples but Linden will assume that you can think. WHAT IF, you complained to the lackluster “news” provider and, if satisfaction is not obtained you then call those who advertise in that medium? Your message could be something like: “ I am disappointed that you choose to advertise in or on …. Who will not report…. Perhaps this approach would pay dividends in the form of less biased news coverage.

LEFTOVERS

LEFTOVERS
Linden thinks of leftovers as being that which is available for consumption after a previous serving has been picked over. His Wednesday was similar to others: Blog posting, Study Buddy session, biscuits and gravy and coffee and, in a major change, fried potatoes at Chick-fil-A, starting a campaign mailing all followed by dinner, visiting and a study program at Church. Done all that before and hope to again.

On a larger (?) scale, the democrats continue with their almost entertaining effort to select a presidential candidate. What is baffling for Linden is that camera work is able to find persons who appear to be excited about the effort. Of course he was even more baffled when some actor came to Indianapolis recently and that was considered (by some) to be an exciting event.

Is it true that Harry Reid said that "our taxes are voluntary"? Is it also true that he is the best Nevada can do? Or, that leadership in the senate is in such short supply that he leads that inefficient group?

If time should become available, Linden intends to read the following:
"Jeb Bush skeptical about global warming" and "Surprise guilty plea of Rezko pal" in American Thinker. "The Economics of College" and "Income Redistribution, Tax Hikes Top Democratic Agenda" in Townhall.com.

IT'S A GREAT LIFE

FAITH without works is dead. James 2:26

-----
IT'S A GREAT LIFE
Linden has not been relaxing enough lately so today, after a short coffee meeting, he played nine holes of golf: Rather badly. Friend, Madonna, called to say that her daughter-in-law, Tricia, had just delivered twins: A boy and a girl and all are doing well. Julie called for a nice long visit: Since she is quite uncomfortable, it is a safe bet that she is jealous of Tricia. Brian also called while Ali was playing soccer. Since Linden had the pleasure of hearing from both of his children on the same day, we will talk about their consideration now.

Shortly after Christmas, New Year's and Linden's birthday, Julie and Kenneth and Brian, Ali and Jake came for a too short holiday visit: Knowing their Dad, presents centered largely on snack food. Brian also produced a DVD of the first year of "24" - which just happens to be Linden's all time favorite TV show. He, within the last few days completed watching the most enjoyable series. The only problem is that they said that presidential candidate Palmer is a Democrat. Doesn't fit. Based on the current sample, he is far too nice. Brian also brought a huge bag of pistachios - they lasted a couple of months.

Julie brought a great supply of various snacks - as of this writing, there are still six unopened bags of various goodies. Following is consumption end date report:
1-7 Lentil soup and vegetables
1-23 Sesame sticks
2-2 Terriyaki noodle bowl
2-3 Fresh hot salsa
2-5 Cheddar and horseradish cheese spread
2-16 Wasabi peas
2-16 Corn chowder soup
3-5 Large cashews
3-6 Assorted hard candies
3-10 Banana chips
3-27 Honey sesame cashews
4-1 Cracked wheat crackers
4-22 Trail mix.

Yep, it was a pretty good holiday celebration and it continues. Linden is blest.

MORE CAMPAIGN

MORE CAMPAIGN
Monday, after blog posting and having a spot of breakfast (instant oatmeal and coffee,) Linden drove to Brownsburg on a campaign related mission and, on the way back home, dropped by Secondhand Stories to solidify a book and CD signing event scheduled for May 3. More about that in the days to come.

Mr. Neilson and the senior government class at Danville Community High School have scheduled a candidate forum for tonight at the high school. Linden had been expecting some campaign related items to arrive and they did not. Stressful!!! Plan B was put into effect and, thanks to wonderful help, the needed items were produced just in time to rush to the forum. It lasted about three hours with candidates for various offices present. Lloyd, my trusty Campaign Manager, was busy with the "THINK SWIFT" message and Joyce, who will assist in Danville on election day, was in the audience. It was a well attended event.

Linden's pass out brochure lists probably 25 or 30 items in the "membership, former activities, background and present activities" areas. Of course "THINK SWIFT" , integrity, experience, stewardship are mentioned along with he being a Republican and asking for the vote on May 6. This blog address is also given.

In the five minute speech, Linden mentioned the availability of all pertinent information in the brochure, his pilgrimage in Spain three years ago, his mission trip to Austria one year ago and his first election many years ago. In that election (won) daughter, Julie, then a high school cheerleader, brought her cheerleading team to the election site and produced the necessary oomph to produce the win. Linden closed his speech by leading a "THINK SWIFT, THINK SWIFT, THINK SWIFT" cheer. It is possible that a few attendees joined in.

This posting can not properly illustrate what a busy, productive and stressful day this had been. It was good when, after handling some correspondence, it was time for bed.

THIRD APRIL WEEKEND

Friday was another busy day for Linden: Men's Prayer Breakfast at 6:00 started the day on a good note and blog posting followed that. This was followed with various campaign related activities. Exchanged some emails with my friend who is now in Austria, had a long visit with my daughter-in-law, had a campaign finance discussion and some things which may be written about later.

Saturday brought another early meeting at the church in Avon and making a very brief appearance at our Writers Group meeting. Then, drove to the East side of Indianapolis (almost 30 miles) to pick up some election related material that otherwise would not have been delievered until Tuesday. Worked over two hours at Church packaging foodstuffs to send to Haiti. There were over 700 people involved in this very worthwhile effort and there were thousands of packages prepared. Hope we do this again next year. This was followed with some campaign activity, some effort with my CDs and bed time.

Sunday brought church, Sunday School, brunch, paper reading, a great nap, computer work, some attention to the goldfish pond and evening church. That's about it.

SUPERDELEGATE VOTING

-----
SUPERDELEGATE VOTING

First, perhaps we should cover Linden's Thursday. It started with blog posting and continued on to the normal breakfast meeting, dropped by the church to wish some of the members of the group going to Austria an enjoyable experience and wave as they left for the airport. This does not mean that Linden was selective about dispensing his good wishes: It is just that there were only four members of the eight member group leaving at this time.

Later, Linden ordered some election supplies, filled out a campaign finance report and took it to Danville - had a nice visit while there, sent a message to a book store owner, secured an election representative for the Danville area, sent a message to Danville High School regarding the upcoming Candidates Night and probably ended with inconsequential activities that are not remembered.

Linden mentioned yesterday that he was not favorably impressed with the Philadelphia Clinton/Obama show. While reading some of the comments from the mostly liberal group, Linden decided that, as a service to our country, he would make himself available to be considered as the democrat presidential nominee. There seems to almost universal agreement that the two favored candidates are truly lackluster so that party needs someone to step into the breech. Why not Linden? Well, I suppose you could make a case that Linden has history as a Republican and that he has not a clue what the democrat party or those who support it really stand for - but nobody knows that. On the plus side, a case could be made supporting the need for rightward movement of that party. Feel free to suggest Linden as a possible candidate to those Superdelegates you know.

MID WEEK/MID WEAK

MID WEEK/MID WEAK

Wednesday came right on schedule and Linden was still not 100% and when you have less than 100% of Linden, you often don't have much at all. Had a very good campaign breakfast meeting with Lloyd and Lamoura and went directly to the Study Buddy session with the first grade student. He informed Linden that Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny and The Tooth Fairy are not real! And, to think, he is supposed to be learning from Linden!

Then came a visit to the book store where a May 3 book signing and CD introduction event is being planned. Then, short visits with the printer and the auto mechanic. Exchanged emails with daughter, Julie, we had each failed to connect by phone. In less than two weeks, Linden should have another grandchild. Exciting times!

The evening brought a good meal at Church although Linden was not hungry enough to really enjoy it and a really good program followed the meal. Donna Thomas has been involved in missionary work for much of her life and has been in many, many countries. Her talk tonight was on the subject of reaching out to immigrants to this country. Very good!

The TV was turned on to the democrat presidential "debate" while Linden puttered around preparing for tomorrow. The more seen of those two, the less presidential they appear. It is baffling how each one can still generate a bit of excitement in some others. Perhaps one should check on the definition of "trite" and "tripe."

RECOVERY
This title is not meant to imply that Linden's Tuesday was a day of vitality, laughing and ongoing lack of complaint. No, that would be wrong on all three counts. But, it did mark the end (hopefully) of the 24 or 36 hour bug that had laid him really low. It did not mark the start of a period of great progress.
After meeting some guys for early coffee, he went to the grocery and printer and spent considerable time preparing for the breakfast meeting with his Campaign Chairman and Campaign Treasurer. There is much left to be done before Linden can feel adequately prepared for election day and time is ticking away. Maybe a miracle will happen. In the course of the History of Man, it probably matters little.

It appears that in the last general election there were no Republican candidates in 39 districts scattered across 15 states. These positions offer much more than just good pay. LONG WEEKEND

LONG WEEKEND
Friday was not all bad for Linden. He attended Men's Prayer Breakfast at 6:00 and had a short campaign related meeting afterward. Later, checked on office supplies, went to the credit union, grocery, garage, book store and printer. Talked to campaign treasurer and a couple of prospective voters. Not much else worth mentioning.
Saturday brought a few moments of panic as the tax forms which are close to due did a disappearing act. Finally found them, wrote the checks and got them in the mail far ahead of schedule. Addressed a large number of campaign related envelopes.
Sunday brought Church Sunday School, brunch, paper reading and evening Church. In the evening, gave a couple of my new CDs to John and Phyllis to take with them to Austria: Our group leaves Thursday for the working mission trip at TCM. Later, I started wondering if I was feeling as good as I could.
Monday was truly a wasted day: felt rotten. For the first time since blog posting started last October, deviated from the five day a week schedule. Did not post and did not do much of anything else, except sleep, either. There were a few phone calls and email messages but otherwise, it was mostly a nothing day. Maybe progress will follow.

VARIED INTERESTS
After performing the blog posting, Linden was at the restaurant for the usual Thursday morning breakfast meeting. For a change, all five members of this group were present and it was Linden's turn to offer the prayer and do the inspirational reading. Bill was scheduled to leave for the Ukraine later in the day and he and Barbara will go on to TCMI in Austria next week.

Lunch was the monthly meeting of the "Golden Glows", the group of mostly older folks within Plainfield Christian Church. It was a pitch in for which Linden had purchased a cake to take. The food was great but Linden was not the least bit hungry and he had not a bite of dessert - did have some cake to bring home and put in the freezer. The program was a singing and talking presentation, given by a local artist, on the subject of Women of the Bible. It was interesting and well done.

The afternoon brought, among other things, a meeting with the printer in regard to CD brochure production. There was a very minor change to the layout that Lisa had produced and Linden has hope that the finished product will be available before the weekend. An email brought an invitation, from Jennifer, to the annual meeting of Rubye's family. It is such a great family and, of course, Rubye was a great lady but the meeting would seem, to me, to be missing something major with Rubye not there. I will, again, probably not attend. It is great to be remembered.

The evening included a campaign affair for a candidate: It included some snacks. So, Linden required no further food for the day. Long before the day should have been over, it was time for bed.

THE MUSIC MAN
After breakfast (instant oatmeal) and blog posting, Linden performed the Study Buddy involvement (his first grade student is doing well.) Then, biscuits and gravy with coffee at Chick-fil-A.

Shortly after, he drove to pick up CD copies at the duplicator (they sounded really good to Linden's untrained ear) and, later, made arrangements with the printer to discuss the brochure on Thursday. It is really a great feeling to think that the music production effort may be drawing to a close. Let the marketing begin!

There were political campaign efforts made on more than one front. Dinner and a learning program at Church. This was a more productive day than it sounds.

MEET THE CANDIDATES

-----
MEET THE CANDIDATES
Although those who are involved in the democrat quest for the Presidency have made many appearances in Indiana. This is, mercifully, not about any of them. Why would Linden want to detract from your enjoyment of Spring by telling you of their plans to raise your taxes and to surrender in the war on terror. No, this posting is just about Linden's world.

He, after a really almost totally sleepless night, attended the monthly GOP Roundtable breakfast meeting. Good food, good company and a good speaker. Connie Lawson, our State Senator spoke mostly about how comparatively blessed we are in Indiana compared with the surrounding States. The leadership of Governor Daniels has paid real dividends in several areas and fallen short in a relatively few. She also touched upon some of the changes that will affect local government. The end result will be that the job Linden seeks, the County Council, will become more difficult than it has been in the past.

On the way home, Linden stopped to make a small donation and memorial gift, in Rubye's name,
to the Hendricks County Community Foundation. Deedee has been a very effective executive director of this effort for several years and now plans on stepping down at the end of the year. She will be missed. She and Linden had a good visit and then he was home whining about how lack of sleep was adversely affecting his day.

In the evening, the Greater Guilford Township Civic Association hosted, from 6:00 to 9:00, their annual "Meet The Candidates" event. It, as usual, was well attended and managed. Those candidates who are unopposed were introduced and those, including Linden, who are opposed, were given the opportunity to say a few words and, within a grouped setting, answer a few questions. It is a nice public service they provide.

There were few tasks performed after Linden returned home. He does not function well without adequate sleep. So, he was soon in bed wondering while he did not immediately nod off.

IT IS SPRING!

Has there ever been such a beautiful Spring day in any other place in this world? The answer is: NO! NEVER!

Linden was up early on Monday and was soon driving by the donut shop which was closed. Then on to the supermarket where a good supply of the sweets was available. For years, he has taken donuts to those who work in County Voter Registration on the first day of absentee voting. He is usually the first person in the County to cast his ballot: This was true again this year. It is comforting to have the knowledge that one is leading in the vote totals even though this lead may be dissipated by the time the third voter has cast their ballot.

The rest of the day was nothing much to cheer about. The "check engine" light is on all the time the engine is running now. It appears that repair should be scheduled. Linden went by the credit union and post office, performed only the most necessary household tasks and did quite a bit of election related paper shuffling. That is about it.

FIRST APRIL WEEKEND

FAITH without works is dead. James 2:26
CHANGE unidentified may hold danger. L. Swift 2008
HOPE without definition is meaningless. L. Swift 2008
-----
FIRST APRIL WEEKEND
Linden's Friday started with the early morning Men's Prayer Breakfast. This was followed by blog posting, paper reading, candy purchase, and his mechanic turning off the "check engine" light. About ten years ago Rubye gave me a percolater: It retired six days ago. Linden found a replacement in a cabinet - and had no idea how long it had been there or from whence it came. It retired today! Bought a new one: Gotta have coffee. Performed just a bit of campaign work today.

On Saturday, Linden drove through dense fog to a men's meeting at the Avon church. The check engine light came on again for just a short time. Back home, read the paper took a nap, and mailed the State tax report for his publishing empire. Then, drove to Indianapolis to resume looking for black dress shoes. The salesman showed an acceptable pair ($100.00) and was told that less money and leather soles would be preferable. He showed a pair with leather soles priced at almost $400.00. Linden said he would sell his feet for that much money and bought the first pair he was shown.

Linden loves horse racing and watched some on TV in the late afternoon. In the Wood Memorial, his choice for winner finished second. In the San Anita Derby, Linden would have boxed three horses in an exacta bet: Picked the winner but his other two finished fourth and fifth and he would have lost, again. Zero for two in 2008! On the plus side, it turned out to be a gorgeous, sunny Spring day.

On Sunday, went to Church but, having slept poorly and almost going to sleep in the service, did not stay for Sunday School. Took a long nap shortly after returning home. In the afternoon, performed some minor campaign tasks and read the paper. Attended evening services.

Yesterday at the shoe store, Linden picked up one of those free left wing democrat papers. The editor used some very inappropriate language and bragged about disrupting conservative speech. It reminded me of a similar paper read on my trip to the Northeast last fall. These are the type people that are controlling the present democrat party. What a pity that so many Democrats can not see what has become of the party they support. Blind on purpose!

STIFF AND SORE
Linden told you on Wednesday that he would probably be stiff and sore on Thursday. He was quite correct. The fall, in addition to the lost skin, also resulted in his right foot being a bit painful.

Thursday, partially as a result of spending an inordinate amout of time whining, was a day of little activity for Linden. There was a minor political effort that followed his usual enjoyable breakfast with Bill, Chuck and Paul. Later in the day he checked out a couple of shoe stores to no avail. Niece, Peggy, sent the following on a card:
"LOST? TRY GPS (GOD'S PLAN OF SALVATION." Pretty good advice.

As is not unusual, he checked "American Thinker" to see if Kyle-Anne Shiver had made a recent contribution: She had. Her "In the Company of Heroes" of April 3 should be required reading. Also, for the first time, Linden noticed that she has a web page: commonsenseregained.com - from there, Linden linked to "Melanie Morgan" and her Berkeley writing (Linden could spit here) and also to "the truth laid bare" - (porkbusters) - good reads all.

Other than a really nice recounting Julie sent regarding a project she had completed for the second grade daughter of a friend, that is about it for stiff and sore Thursday.

TWINKLETOES

TWINKLETOES
Wednesday started with Linden doing his posting, fixing his breakfast (instant oatmeal,) and reading part of the paper. Then, he picked up CDs at the duplicator's and drove on to Brownsburg to check out a shoe store. Maybe he is just too picky but he is having no luck finding the black dress shoes he considers to be suitable.

Back at home, he poured some coffee and settled back in his recliner to listen to one of the new CDs: It is great to hear your own works even though there is the very real possibility that they will never be appreciated by another living soul. On the fifth song, a disturbing noise occurred that reappeared from time to time through the thirteenth, and last, song.

Linden returned to the duplicator to start that process over, then to the brochure printer, and then to see the auto mechanic. The time was not good for him so Linden left. Immediately after closing the door, he tripped and Old Twinkletoes performed a dance routine that he has not practiced since falling in Austria a year ago. He lost some skin off of his right elbow and both knees. It was a jarring fall and he fully expects to be very stiff and sore Thursday.

After showering and dressing his wounds and resting in the recliner a bit he attended a very good program which was presented at his church by the National Church Music Conference.

Although he did make some small progress in regard to his political campaign, the day was, over all, not the best he ever had.

New Jersey 1 Camden and Gloucester Counties
New Jersey 10 Essex, Hudson and Orion Counties

New York 5 Queens and Nassau Counties
New York 6 Queens
New York 9 Brooklyn and Queens
New York 22 Delaware County area – 2 Found

North Carolina 1 Roanoke Rapids, Rocky Mount and other areas

In recent ratings, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste considered 32 of the present officeholders (democrats) to be hostile, 6 unfriendly, and 1 lukewarm to taxpayers. The National Taxpayers Union granted a grade of “F” to 36 of this group while 3 of them rose to a “D”.

RETIREMENT

FAITH without works is dead. James 2:26
CHANGE unidentified may hold danger. L. Swift 2008
HOPE without definition is meaningless. L. Swift 2008

RETIREMENT...
is not supposed to work like this! The retiree is supposed to sleep late, go to bed early and spend the intervening hours watching mindless TV shows. Preferably shows where there is much laughing or listening to tales of woe or absolute depravity while learning to laugh when gouged by the laugh track. Linden's TV will probably not be turned on today.
Tuesday for Linden started with posting the blog. Then, there was the instant oatmeal and coffee, trip to a grocery for candy supplies, coffee with friends, another grocery for staples, to the post office and back home. Then, there was a call from the CD duplicator, a trip to the printer and on to see his mechanic. All will require further action on Wednesday. By then, it was after lunch time.
Much of the afternoon was spent in trying to forward a bio to the newspaper for their Election Guide issue. The bio was supposed to contain a picture but Linden simply could not make that work. So, later, after two or three efforts, he managed to forward a picture by email that will, hopefully, suffice.
After consuming one of Linden's delicious home-cooked meals, Linden was off for a long meeting in the evening. It was late when he returned home and to say he was tired is an understatement indeed. There was no time to think of any election matters other than a thought or two regarding his own campaign. Maybe tomorrow, he thought.

WIN SOME LOSE SOME

WIN SOME LOSE SOME
Linden expected Monday to be a tremendously productive day - at least by his standards: It was not to be. He hoped to pick up the output from his first CD production run: Contact with the duplicator did not happen.
He had hoped to get his mechanic to investigate why the "check engine" warning light gleams brightly: Maybe tomorrow. He intended to buy new dress shoes: He could not find anything suitable - apparently they no longer produce shoes that fit as well as the old ones did.
This is not nearly all of his list of about a dozen different things he hoped to accomplish. But, you get the general picture.
On the positive side, Lisa completed designing the brochure that goes with the CD and forwarded it to the print shop; a letter from a potential political supporter was answered; directions were received in regard to completing the input for an upcoming newspaper voters guide; and, maybe, there was another minor accomplishment or two.
Perhaps he will return to outlining the shortcomings of the two democrat Presidential candidates in the near future. For the present, the Tuesday list is no shorter than the one for Monday was.
