WASTED TIME & GOOD LINKS
Linden watches little television. He wasted an hour on it Wednesday night. The Obama speech was meaningless. There were a great number of well paid people in attendance. If it is true that he said “I” almost 100 times in 70 minutes, Linden did well to last only an hour. Linden does approve of the links he lists below.

LINDEN'S LIFE
After doing my Thursday blog posting, met the guys for a very pleasant breakfast. It was cold, the roads were slick in spots, and the driveway to my place was covered with deep snow. So, after going to the post office to pick up my mail, I was home for the day. Had a nice telephone visit with Brian, did some editing, and an email from Julie said that I may see her on Friday.

HELPING THE ARIZONA WOMAN
Linden, having received an email said to have been written by a 53 year old Arizona former democrat grandmother who was seeking political guidance, is pleased to provide her with some answers.

The letter is said to have been read on the Glenn Beck show. Since Linden only receives TV programs through his “rabbit ears” antenna, he does not receive that show. Hopefully Beck provided answers to her questions rather than saying something like, “great letter, throw them all out”!

First, gentle lady, please know that there are 40 Republican Senators with 60 representing the forces of evil. There are 177 Republican House members with 258 representing the forces of evil. MAJORITY RULES. Obama is associated with the FOE.

Now, to address your questions from Linden’s perspective:

Illegal Immigration: Most FOE members support this and a few of the FFG (forces of good) do, as well. Senator McCain of your state is identified as one supporting this illegality. Linden, if he lived in Arizona, would vote against him in the primary election.

Stimulus: Practically all the FOE voted for this and practically all of the FFG voted against it. Linden would support the FFG.

Czars: Installed by the FOE in the White House.

Cap and Trade: Supported by the majority of the FOE. It appears that the efforts of the FFG has this blocked.

Health Care Bill: FOE supported this. The FFG may have it blocked.

Growing Government Control: As above, some of this has been blocked.

ACORN: The friend of the FOE. The FFG has caused some action to be taken to lessen their influence. This requires watching.

Redistribution Of Wealth: As above, some of this has been blocked but continue to monitor and oppose efforts that will continue.

Charitable Contributions: This is just further evidence that the tax code needs major revision.

Corporate Bailouts: You should check the vote totals on this. Linden believes most of the FOE support and most FFG oppose.

Transparency: Promised by the FOE. They lied.

Quick Spending: Most noticeable in the Health Care Bill effort which, as above, was pushed by the FOE.

In closing and in regard to your “if you represent me stand up”, it appears that 217 members of Congress have rather consistently stood up for you. Unfortunately, 217 is not a majority. See MAJORITY RULES.

NUMBERS

NUMBERS
In the second month after Israel had come out of Egypt The LORD told Moses to conduct a census of each tribe. There were a total of just over 600,000 males over age 20. The tribes and the Levites were organized according to the instructions of The LORD.

Some laws are given and chapter six closes with a blessing. Many offerings are made and instruction is given to Moses regarding the Levites. Now in their second year since leaving Egypt, the Israelites started their journey following a cloud that The LORD provided.

The LORD had provided manna for food and when the Israelites continued to complain he provided quail. He was angry with their mutterings and some died as a result of his anger. Moses appointed 70 Elders. Miriam and Aaron rebelled against Moses and were punished by The LORD.

Spies were sent to search out the promised land. When they returned, Caleb was in favor of going into the land but the others were afraid of the inhabitants and were opposed to going in. This angered The LORD and he said none of those, except for Caleb and Joshua, who had been numbered in the census would live to see the promised land, Canaan.

Years passed and the Israelites wandered in the wilderness with GOD always near at hand. Aaron dies, another census is taken and about the same number were counted as were when the first census was taken. By now, almost all of those who were then older than 20 are now dead.

GOD'S WIFE? H/T Chuck
An eye witness account from New York City , on a cold day in December, some years ago:

A little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold.

A lady approached the young boy and said, 'My, but you're in such deep thought staring in that window!'

'I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,' was the boys reply.

The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.

She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel.
By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes.

She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, 'No doubt, you will be more comfortable now.'

As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears in his eyes, asked her.'Are you God's wife?'

With it being only roughly three and on half months until the Indiana primary election, there is beginning to be a bit of attention paid to those candidates and to the potential match-ups in the fall general election.

There are some that think Evan Bayh (who lived in Indiana while he was governor) will be very difficult to beat. There are even some who think he is conservative. He just leans slightly that way on election years. Check his voting record.

Perhaps the biggest obstacle (some think) is the obscene amount of money he has in his campaign war-chest. It has been reported that the amount is in the thirteen million dollar range. That means he could pay each Indiana resident roughly two and a half dollars! Linden would not vote for him for a hundred times that amount.

Why should not an enterprising candidate promise that if elected they would support causing leftover campaign funds being diverted toward paying off the national debt?

HEARTBREAK AGAIN?
You would think that two failed marriages would be sufficient education. Maybe not. Fortunately, Rubye brought joy to my life a few years after the second marriage ended and life was good until she passed away in 2003.

In 2008 I fell in love with Sarah Palin! Granted, her being already married, living thousands of miles away, and our never being properly introduced presented some problems. But, love is all about resolving problems. Right?

Just recently the news was that Sarah intends to campaign for John McCain!! You should know that Linden values loyalty very highly and is well aware that Sarah owes John a debt of gratitude. But, Linden strongly feels that it is past time for John to retire from the Senate. Linden will not be campaigning for John McCain. Perhaps Linden can find love again while still regarding Sarah highly.

SENSE FROM PENCE:
Regular readers of Linden’s postings will not be surprised at all to hear that he is pleased with his constant efforts in The House to restrain spending and perform those other functions of a dedicated conservative. As a House leader, he has led the Republican effort to cause the House Republicans to be practically unanimous in their opposition to the cock-a-mamie schemes of the democrats.

Rather than present you with further Linden thoughts, he has selected for you a number of links that should help you to see why Linden is very favorably impressed with Mike Pence.

HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!

HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!
And a happy day it was to learn of the Scott Brown victory. This means that the nation may be turning to the right and will be right in doing so. The gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey which went to McDonnell and Christie were harbingers of the renewed thoughtful stance taken by the voting public. Even the loss of Doug Hoffman in the NY-23 Congressional District election was close enough that real hope lies in that area too. It is fair to say that Linden is in a rather good mood.

LEVITICUS

LEVITICUS:
The Levites, one of the twelve tribes of Israel, were priests and those associated with the priests. This book is largely about the laws and rules governing all of Israel under the direction of the Levites. These laws and rules were mostly given on Mt. Sinai and were enlarged upon during the forty years of wandering in the wilderness.

The first several chapters are devoted to the various kinds and types of offerings made to The LORD and to the directions regarding how these offerings were to me made. Aaron, the brother of Moses, and his sons were consecrated as priests. Two of the sons of Aaron are killed by The LORD because they did not follow directions.

The remainder of Leviticus is devoted to further laws, rules, customs, regulations, and practices.

As you know, this is a highly condensed writing.

OBAMA, YEAR ONE:
Linden has previously stated when rating those Presidents who “served” within his lifetime that he considers Obama to be the worst for America of the lot. Today, he brings you a small collection of the numerous links to incidents within that first year.
--
NOTE…For some unexplainable reason Linden’s computer rebelled and he was unable to bring you some links that he may have chosen. Just think of the eight transparency promises made and broken and go from there as you develop your thoughts.

MATHEMATICS:
Due primarily to a broadband access problem, this posting did not develop exactly as planned. Now we will see if Linden can recall a portion of what he planned and then get on to the excellent links presented today.

This posting was primarily spawned by the Lloyd Marcus article linked below. In it, he says that blacks supported Obama at the 96% level in the general election; elsewhere it is said that overall support for Obama is at the 46% level and that black support is now at 94%.

If we apply these percentages to a poll of 1,000 persons of which 15% are black we find that 141 blacks will now support Obama and 319 non-blacks will now support him. This correlates to a support level of 37.5% in the non-black community.

If we then read the “Finding Yourself” link below we may, if we agree, come to believe that there are at least three reasons for the Obama support. Linden believes these reasons would be Stupidity, Ignorance, and/or a serious wish to tear down the foundations of our country. Feel free to make Linden aware of disagreements or additional reasons for this support.

My mind must be going: on Thursday I forgot to go to the Golden Glows luncheon! Attended the Men’s Prayer Breakfast on Friday Sandi cleaned my living quarters while I was there. Received two Kringles that Katia sent me from the ohdanishbakery. They are oh so good. Their email address is listed in the semi-permanent links section. I failed to make it to the Republican dinner in the evening. Saturday brought the breakfast at Kingsway church and, later, a writers group meeting. Sunday was church services followed by Sunday school, a restful afternoon at home and church activities in the evening.

TRANSPARANCY:
A very short blurb in my Thursday morning paper announced that someone, maybe it was the President, said that the work was progressing nicely on the healthcare bill. Of course very few people in the entire country, including those elected to Congress, have any idea what the monstrosity contains.

We have the same President who has said on many occasions that his administration would be very transparent. More particularly, he often said that Congressional work would be carried on CSPAN.

The Congressman that called out “YOU LIE” when Obama was speaking was roundly chastised by the press: perhaps these same people should now offer their apologies to that Congressman.

I have made no real effort to get in shape but Sheri recently told Brian that he and I should go to Spain or Ireland, since I had also mentioned a desire to go there. The Wild Colonial Boy song linked above will be remembered by Brian and an Ireland based song struck me as being needed today.

GET EVEN HOW?
Linden, running out of posting time and not feeling all that well, will just pose a few questions this time and then let you examine a great collection of links. The question, however, is valid. Is horse whipping and running out of office appropriate? If not that, what? There can be little doubt that Presidential and Congressional actions by the democrats have brought highly undesirable results for the taxpaying public. Consider these actions:
TARP funding?
Stimulus funding?
Healthcare disaster?
Cap and Trade (or whatever)?
Incredible deficits?
Lies?
Hate Crime?
National Security?
Czars?
Tax Cheats?
There is more but you get the picture.

Tuesday was a busy day filled with routine tasks. Wednesday brought a Study Buddy session and the last (I think) of my birthday celebrations in the form of a good lunch with Sam. His elementary school years were spent in a Polish orphanage in Chicago. He went on to become a successful Army Officer and I, after the Air Force days, eventually became an unsuccessful author/publisher and composer. In the evening, had a good meal and had an interesting program at church.

EXODUS

EXODUS
The Book of Genesis concluded with the death of Joseph. In the over 400 years that followed until the birth of Moses the Israelites had become slaves of the Egyptians. There were now maybe as many as three million Israelites.

At the time of the birth of Moses the king of Egypt had decreed that male children would be killed when they were born. When Moses was three months old and could no longer be hidden, his mother put him in a basket and hid it in the reeds by the Nile. He was found there by the daughter of Pharaoh who made him her son. The sister of Moses asked if the daughter wanted a nursemaid for Moses and that led to him having contact with his birth family.

Moses lived in the palace for 40 years but because of the influence of his mother in his early years he had a bond with the Israelites. He killed an Egyptian who was abusing an Israelite and when he found that the Pharaoh knew of it and was going to kill him, he fled.

Moses found a new home, married, had children and lived the life of a shepherd for another 40 years. Then, The LORD convinced him to be the instrument which would cause the Israelites to leave Egypt.

Moses returned to Egypt with his family, met his brother, Aaron, who was a to serve as the voice of Moses. Aaron recounted the words The LORD had given Moses to the Israelites and spoke of the land of milk and honey which was promised.

Pharaoh had to be convinced through the use of ten plagues to let the Israelites go—the last, where the firstborn throughout the land died convinced him and the Egyptians gave the Israelites many jewels and other items and their journey started.

Then, Pharaoh decided to pursue the Israelites who were being led by GOD. HE parted the sea for them so they could cross on dry ground and then closed the sea over the pursuing Egyptians.

Many stories surround the 40 years the Israelites spent wandering in the wilderness. They include sin and grumbling, food being provided, The LORD giving Moses the ten commandments, the tabernacle and the Ark of The Covenant being built.

There are many stories and elaborations which are not contained in the above condensed writing.

TALK RADIO:
The air waves were full of discussion of the racially tinged comments made by Senator Reid and the difference in how they were addressed by the media and the democrats in comparison to the treatment of similar comments that have been made by Republicans.

This is nothing new for democrats and what is most surprising is that blacks, as a group, so overwhelmingly support the democrats with, it seems, rarely a glance at what this party thinks of their group and how this party has advanced legislation that has simply in many cases destroyed the black family. Some things are so irrational that they defy logical definition.

There was little political news that Linden considered to be worthy of comment over the weekend. LINDEN'S LIFE:
On Saturday, I walked through the snow to my car and went to the post office to pick up mail. The mail box on the property had been knocked down by a snow plow and when I tried to straighten it up, it broke off at the base.
Bob and Pati Hughes joined Thuc in coming to Plainfield to celebrate my birthday. Bob brought a cake and Thuc, of course, had stuff for me. It was really pleasant.
In late afternoon, Brian, Sheri, and Alison came by to take me to an Irish place for a birthday dinner. He said there was a new place in downtown Indianapolis but when we parked, we went in St.Elmo’s (a very nice and expensive steak house) –I couldn’t imagine what Brian was thinking. We went downstairs and Julie, Kenneth, and Jade were there along with Sheri’s two teenage boys, Marc and Scott. To say I was surprised would have to be a major understatement.
We had just a wonderful meal and lots of fun. They made it the most memorable birthday I have ever had. I think I have one more such celebration and then the birthday celebrations for 2010 will be over.
On Sunday, I attended morning and evening church services and had a meeting at church just before noon. When I returned home, Julie, Kenneth, and Jade came by with presents before taking Kenneth to the airport to fly back to Chicago. I believe Julie will fly to Tulsa tomorrow. Then, Brian and his family came by before starting their drive back to their home in Ohio.
Julie and Brian just outdid themselves in planning their visit and my surprise. No wonder I love them.

VICTORY OR DEATH:
On December 21, Linden presented a link to 5 Newt Gingrich videos in order to further your education. The 5th video in the set is of particular interest and Linden provides you with a link to it again today. In it, Newt mentions that perhaps a resolution of impeachment should now be under consideration. Further, he says that the Judicial Act of 1802 abolished 18 of the 35 Federal Courts and suggested that perhaps that same approach should be used to get rid of the current 9th District Court of Appeals.
--
The first link below is the one mentioned above. It is followed with a link referencing the Court mentioned above. Ann Coulter comes next with an article regarding Brit Hume saying that Tiger Woods should consider Christianity. Then, a video of Obama speaking. The snow and cold caused Linden to remember a warmer clime and a song he sang to Rubye as they neared New Orleans some years ago.

AL GORE IS DEMENTED?
Linden does not wish to appear to be judgmental nor will he take the time to name any of his “thought process” associates or the “news sources” that parrot his global warming nonsense. But, it is very cold here and in many other places as well.

Today, Linden heard Rush Limbaugh mention that something in excess of 1200 new marks have been set this winter in regard to cold weather. Linden has read of snow in Houston, Dublin and other unlikely places. Surely with this easily observed weather and the recent exposure of lies being propagated by “scientists”, maybe we will yet get the truth.

Linden brings you outstanding links today:
The first demonstrates Sarah Palin outshining the President.
Next is a duct tape story and the third is a school related message that you should share with any teacher that you know. The last relates to a song that Brian used to play with his band. It is offered because he recently sent me something he called “Sweet Home Ensenada.”

Another winner for Sarah.

LINDEN'S LIFE
I continue to receive happy birthday wishes and that makes me happy. Rubye’s sister, Audrey, and her husband, Jim, left a song on my recorder and Laura also started her message with a song. I am so blest. I had my first “study buddy” session of the year and, in addition to the usual running around, had a good meal and program at my church.
Brian and his family may come over Saturday but with the heavy snowfall we are expecting, that could be cancelled. We’ll see.

CONDENSED BIBLE STUDY--GENESIS

Genesis and the next four Bible books are attributed to the prophet Moses. He was well educated and it is believed that his writings came directly from GOD and the words of those who came before Moses.

We can not imagine time before the world we know began but in the beginning as we know it, GOD created the heaven and the earth and all that is in and around it. His creation, including that of man (Adam) was accomplished in six days (of unknown length) and then HE rested on the seventh day.

Following this first week, GOD created woman (Eve) and called for marriage. He placed Adam and Eve in a wonderful garden (Eden) and commanded them not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge. They were induced to disobey and were banished from Eden.

Cain and Abel were born – Cain murdered Abel and he was banished. Generations followed him.

Adam and Eve then had Seth and other sons and daughters and long living generations followed. Hundreds of years later, Noah came. Because of the sin in the world, GOD had Noah build an ark to house his three sons and their families and some of all species and then everything except the ark was buried under the great flood.

Generations followed and the earth became populated. A descendent of Shem, one of Noah’s sons, was Abram (later named Abraham) was favored by GOD. His nephew, Lot, escaped from the city of Sodom before it, along with Gomorrah, were destroyed by The LORD.

When Abraham was 100 years old he had his first son , Isaac, by his wife, Sarah. Later, Abraham proved his faith in The LORD by starting to sacrifice Isaac. The LORD did not allow this to happen but HE was well pleased with the faith of Abraham. Sarah dies and Isaac marries Rebekah. Abraham remarries, has children and dies at age 175. Isaac and Rebekah have twin sons, Esau and Jacob. They compete.

Jacob marries sisters Leah and Rachel. Leah has several children and Rachel has Joseph. Later, Rachel has Benjamin and dies. Jacob is renamed, Israel. Isaac dies at age 180.

Jacob favors Joseph and Benjamin: the half brothers are jealous and, later, sell Joseph into slavery and tell Jacob that he was killed by a wild animal.

Joseph is sold in Egypt and rises to a good position, then is falsely accused and is thrown in prison. God is with him, he is released and rises to a position where he is only second to Pharaoh. Later, because of a famine, Joseph’s family comes to Egypt to buy food. They did not recognize Joseph. Later, he sent for his father.

Jacob dies and Joseph and the brothers return him to Canaan to bury him in the burial cave that Abraham had purchased for that purpose years earlier.

Joseph returns to Egypt, dies at age 110 after predicting that his bones would be returned to Canaan.

THROW THEM ALL OUT?
Linden readily admits that the inspiration (if that is the right word) for this posting originated with his reading of the Tea Party related article that is the number one linked item below.

Two things that are troublesome to Linden have been referred to in various emails forwarded to him over the past months. The first is referred to in the title of this piece—“throw them all out!”. Lets see, if we note the current political breakdown of The House, we find that there are 258 votes that could usually be identified as being part of the forces of evil and 177 votes that could then be called the forces of good. You supporters of the throw them all out belief are invited to explain in detail to Linden how this makes sense.

The second is the occasional call for the Tea Party movement to result in the formation of a third party. Lloyd Marcus addresses this thought better in the link below than Linden ever could. So, Linden will only say that if you have a strong desire to see the Congress elected in 2010 constituted much the same (or even worse) than it presently is, just support this third party movement and see your desire realized.
--
Today’s three links start with a very good tea party related article that touches upon some of the comments that Linden has made; next an article that addresses the need for good leaders as opposed to smooth talkers; and, lastly, a link to a song that Linden first remembers hearing as he was on the long 1962 honeymoon with the mother of his children. As a reward to Brian and Julie he dedicates this song to them as a token of the earliest stages of their beginnings.

LINDEN'S LIFE:
Had a pleasant breakfast meeting then did some shopping: bought a pair of jeans and an electric razor. Then, picked up my mail and returned home. Received some birthday cards and some calls. Brian and Julie were among those who called. Tried on the jeans and they would fit fine if Linden was maybe seven feet tall and weighed probably 500 pounds. It may take another day for Linden to figure out how to unpackage the razor. Bill and Barbara and Chuck and Mary Ann took me out for a great birthday dinner. I am so blessed. Jack had called but he and Helen couldn’t join us and Paul and Judy are home sick. It has been a very nice birthday. Eighty ain’t bad!

SLAVING FOR THE GOVERNMENT:
Linden well knows that financial management in our government can be rated no better than “sloppy”. The indystar link to a Deroy Murdock piece tells it better than Linden ever could—particularly upsetting was the reference to those making over $170,000 per year increasing from 1 to 1690. UGH!!
--
Following links start with the one referenced above, it is followed by a Bush/Obama deficit comparison link and, lastly, is a link to an Emmy Lou Harris rendition of “Green Pastures.” Linden has a better recording of it by her but could not find it on You Tube. Linden met her maybe 30 years ago, talked a bit about a song he had written and she suggested contacting her manager. Naturally, Linden never did that.

LINDEN'S LIFE:
Watched more TV than usual the last few days: basketball, football, one movie and a New Year’s Eve show featuring Emmy Lou Harris. Went to dinner at Kent and Donna’s New Year’s Day, had ham and beans, fried potatoes and pumpkin pie. Good! Went to morning church services and Sunday school but mostly stayed inside because it is so cold outside. I will become productive later.

2009/2010

2009/2010
Since starting these postings, something like 560 postings ago, Linden has usually at this time of year commented upon his accomplishments in the past year and his plans for the coming year. Here is this installment.

Undoubtedly the biggest disappointment of 2009 was the actions taken by the democrat leadership of our country: Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. GOD save us.

Otherwise, probably the best thing was the efforts my children, Brian and Julie, make to stay in contact with me. Countless phone calls and emails. Julie visits in person about once a month on average and often has Jade (now 19 months) with her. Kenneth joined them once. Brian and usually one or another of his family makes it about once every three months. I am blest. In another vein, my health and vision are not noticeably worse than they were at the start of the year.

My stated plans for 2009 included:
Writing and publishing another book. Did that.
Develop a board game. Did that, improvement needed.
Continue posting this blog. Did that.
Attempt to expand book and CD sales. Some better.
Travel to Johnson Bible College with church group. Did that.

Thanks to Julie nagging, I have a cleaning lady come in when I think of it. I fell only two or three times and only one of them can be classified as a bad fall. Probably wasn’t noticeably sick over a half dozen times. I decided early in the year to divert a portion of my book and CD sales monies to a worthwhile cause and I am very pleased with that effort. More about that later in January.

Plans for 2010:
Continue writing and publishing, blog posting, routine activities, and go to Johnson Bible College again. Probably will not mess with the board game again. In 2008, I told Brian that we should go to Spain in 2010 and do the last 100 kilometers of the pilgrimage—that is probably out of the question—oh to be 75 again! I would still love to spend some time in Ireland and another trip to Austria would be nice—probably neither of these will ever happen.
--
I had intended to not include any links in this posting—then I thought that you may have activity needs over the long weekend. Here are some:

This is such a good Obama related piece that it will be added to the semi-permanent link list that usually appears near the end of the posting: H/T Bob and Barbara
