AMERICA'S CHICKENS ARE COMING HOME TO ROOST
In the words of the 20 year mentor of our white President (Linden never wants to hold the blacks as being solely responsible for the actions (or lack thereof) of this President,) America’s chickens are coming home to roost. They are coming home to roost in the form of many wrong decisions in the process of choosing the judges in our various courts. The decision of the judge in regard to the Arizona immigration law is a prime example.

Consider, if you will, what collects on the floor under the roost: in Linden’s opinion this is truly representative of the Sotomayor, Breyer, Ginsberg, Bolton, and probably Kagan approach to dispensing Constitutional justice. This view also includes those who voted for or will vote for these blemishes on this branch of our government.

LINDEN'S LIFE
In the fall of 1942 my two youngest sisters and I moved to Central Illinois to live with an older sister and her family. Dad and the hills of Southern Indiana were really missed. There were probably 25 students in my 8th grade class; a year ago there were only 2 of us. It seemed like a big town with a population of roughly 2,000. I had a paper route and was in a much better educational setting. I was chosen to give our graduation speech so was treated to my first ever new suit. There were several thousand in attendance at the ceremony and my older sister was really proud of me. After this, we three rejoined our Dad in the Indianapolis area. He had the best job that he had in my memory and had bought a small house.

While Julie and Kenneth were in England for the funeral of Kenneth’s Mother, they spent some time with a couple that Julie really liked…he is part of a group that is involved in Morris Dancing. I saw a clip of this a few years ago, really liked the music and the ability of the dancers. Here is a link to his group:
http://www.abingdonmorris.org.uk/ click on Morrismen in space.

Had the usual breakfast with the five of us in our Thursday group, went to the post office and credit union and in the evening went to an open house at church which was celebrating the 90th birthday of Miriam Davis. Good cake! Nice visits!

INVESTMENT REVIEW
Have just heard that the Arizona judge has just ruled against the citizens of that State. Since, at this time Linden can not address that ruling without puking all over his keyboard, he will address other matters.

Linden believes that he joins millions of others in prioritizing his responsibilities in the following order: GOD, Country, Family, and Self. He believes that his investments in GOD & Family (children) have paid tremendous dividends. The dividends in investing in or by Self are so-so, at best.

His investment in Country is not regretted in spite of the faulty leadership we have at this time. As a further investment in this area, Linden sent a check to the campaign of Christine O’Donnell in Delaware on Wednesday. If she wins in the Republican primary, we get rid of a RINO. If she wins in the general election, we add a Conservative to the Senate. How can one not make such an investment?

JOEL
Thought to be one of the earliest prophets, Joel writes of a terrible plague of locusts that stripped the land.

Bad as this plague was, Joel warned of another judgment to come which would be more severe than the locust plague.

Hints of the coming of Jesus and the blessings coming to believers are also contained in this short book.

FOUR MAMAS, ONE PAPA (GRIZZLIES)
In Linden’s posting yesterday, he referred to his hope that some of the Conservative women now running for seats among the “ruling class” will bring strength of purpose to saving our country. In prior postings he has alluded to possible lack of conversational strength of conviction backbone among our current Republican legislators. The video that follows the links to the four women is indicative of what Linden desires.

There are several Conservative women coming on the stage and they are strong in expressing their wishes for our country. At this time, Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann are far and away the favorites of Linden with Sharron Angle and Jan Brewer, like cream, rising to the top. There will be others.

RULING CLASS/COUNTRY CLASS
If there has been any one thing that Linden has tried to emphasize within his 700 some postings, it is aptly described by the title of this piece. Our country is in a mess of unprecedented proportions and the only cure will be to drastically reduce the unhealthy influence of the present ruling class.

The “ruling class” link below outlines the situation in words so good and pure that Linden is downright jealous. The piece should be required reading at every level of society. The “nullification” piece would be just as good if that were possible. It outlines a hoped for approach.

The author of the “ruling class” appears to agree with Linden in that every possible democrat should be removed from office in 2010. Then the process of determining which Republican or Conservative is dedicated to service rather than they themselves becoming part of the ruling class begins. Linden’s dearest hope is that some of the strong women who are emerging as Republicans will be among those who will lead this effort. GOD help us.

Friday brought Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00, John gave a really good presentation. At 10:00, I went to the home of Steve and Joyce Craig to help put the finishing touches on what will be the next book production by our writers group. Joyce fixed some really good food. On Saturday, went by the Craig’s again for just a few minutes then on to the post office. It has been so hot lately that I’ve been mostly staying inside.
Sunday brought church and Sunday school in the morning and evening in the shade on the North property. Good service followed by good desserts. After I returned home, John, Ruth, Nathan, and Lydia came over to say “goodbye.” It has been wonderful to have them in the Mission House. They leave early on Monday.

I'M SICK OF IT
Linden is not particularly smart, “well educated,” or gifted in any respect. However, he is capable of observing voting records that he considers to be contrary to the needs of our country. In case you have not noticed, the democrats in Congress have been almost unanimous in their support of the highly undesirable initiatives of President Obama. The Republicans have been just as solidly opposed. You would think all Republicans would look askance at any Supreme Court Justice this President would nominate. Not so!

Senator Lugar is smart, “well educated,” and somewhat gifted. So, it is not surprising that Linden is puzzled and perturbed over his announced intention to help put Kagan on the Supreme Court. His explanation is that the President should be granted great latitude in his selection of nominees. Using this “logic,” it is not difficult for Linden to visualize Senator Lugar saying, in a different time, “good job Judas” and “well done Benedict.” This is about the same way Linden views those who often say, “my good friend across the aisle.” Linden could just vomit!

John joined me at breakfast with Bill, Chuck, Jack and Paul. Good visit but we had to cut it short: John and Ruth had meetings on the East and South sides of Indianapolis and, since their car was not yet repaired, I loaned them mine. They did well in their meetings.

In reference to the music link: Linden was 11 years old in the fall of 1941, still attending the one room school in the poverty stricken replica of Appalachia in Southern Indiana. There were now two students in his seventh grade class. Our country was attacked by Japan in December and we were soon involved in the Second World War. This war brought an end to the long, long Roosevelt depression.

None of Linden’s thoughts on Wednesday held a candle to the thinking of those who are responsible for the links below. So, he will just bring you a short review of the subject material and hope that you educate yourself.
1. A report of journalists conspiring to prevent unfavorable (to them) news from being covered.
2. Outlines the task ahead for Conservatives.
3. Outlines problems that economists can not solve.
4. Addresses imperfections in job creation reporting.
5. A funny cartoon.
6. Perhaps the saddest song ever written. Linden presented this about six months ago but this is a better version.

HOSEA
GOD used Hosea and his wife, Gomer, as an illustration of the relationship GOD had with Israel. At this time, Israel did not return the love she was so freely given. Idol worship was the mood of the day and that was only one of the sins. The priests were little, if any, better than the rest of the population.

Hosea was a prophet who warned Israel of the judgment which would come if they did not return to GOD. His wife, after bearing three children, leaves Hosea and becomes a prostitute. Later, Hosea buys her back and loves her. Just as GOD loved Israel after it had paid the penalty for sin.

CONSTITUTION YES, KAGAN NO
Our constitution has held up remarkably well considering all of the attacks that have been launched against it. Many of these attacks have come from those who should have never been elevated to our Supreme Court. The absolute requirements for serving on this court should be relatively few in number but certainly should include the ability to read, understand and, if necessary, interpret the constitution. In Linden’s opinion, Kagan has not demonstrated that she meets these minimum requirements.

Brian called to tell me that Alison made it home from California and Kent called to see if I wanted to go to a baseball game, I had already made plans to go to a church related meeting at a church South of Indianapolis. Rained like crazy as five of us went. Had a good meal and good program. Paul brought me some tomatoes from his garden before we went to the meeting.

In a futile attempt to not show our President as one who spends too many days in the vacation mode, Linden will not comment on how quickly he can find a reason to escape the rigors of the office. After all, dithering can be draining. On the good news side, it appears that BP has at least temporarily stopped the oil gushing into the Gulf. Linden believes that the government was more of an impediment to this effort than a help. Much more!

Instead, Linden will bring you a link to a long but very good piece which touches upon several areas of some concern. If you have time, you will probably find interesting the piece you will find if you click on “this study” which is contained in the section titled “The Summer Of Our (Racist) Discontent.”

LINDEN'S LIFE
Had the usual Men’t Prayer Breakfast at PCC on Friday and another one at Kingsway on Saturday. Also, on Saturday, Ruth and Nathan came over and used my computer a little…they heard from Hannah who is traveling in the Middle East. I listened to an opera in the afternoon and napped off while listening. The Chesnut family and I ate at Goody’s in the evening.
Sunday brought Church and Sunday school services, brunch with friends and, in the evening, church services again. They were scheduled to be outside but it was rainy and were held inside. Verses 14 and 15 of the 6th chapter of Matthew were read. “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” These two verses deserve a great deal of thought.

Perhaps it is because of his complete lack of trust in the beneficial effect of the TARP, Stimulus, and Healthcare bills that Linden has absolutely no faith in the likelihood of bills of greater length than 2,000 pages being of benefit to our country. The financial bill passed by the Senate on Thursday was 2,300 pages long. This bill was strongly supported by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, believed to be the two most responsible for our current problems in almost every area of major concern.

A Republican filibuster was averted when three Republican Senators, Scott Brown, Susan Collins, and Olympia Snowe joined the fifty seven democrats who voted for the bill. Time after time, the Republicans have been close to defeating some cockamamie disaster causing Congressional mistake. We should continue to thank those who work for our best interests.

As is generally true, we will not know the full details of the upcoming problems until a later date. Probably much later.

LINDEN'S LIFE
I remember hearing the above song, a sister and her husband had brought us a battery operated radio…we had no electricity in the pocket of poverty where we lived on the old family farm in Southern Indiana .It was now owned by my Uncle, who lived with us. It was the eighth year of the Roosevelt depression. My Dad was still ill but was able to work some…family income was probably less than three hundred dollars that year.
I was ten years old and was in the sixth grade when school started that fall…walked two miles to get to the one room school. That Christmas, my Mother came to our house for a few days and brought me a .22 rifle and some shells. I loved it. Wish I still had it.
The two major surprises in our Thursday breakfast meeting were that Chuck was not present and Jack arrived before I did. It was held at the Furman’s, it being Bill’s 75th birthday. Barbara prepared a great meal and we enjoyed our meeting.
Our church Golden Glows monthly luncheon was held at our Pier 14 youth facility. Great pitch-in meal and I was not hungry. Brian Leslie and some of the students presented information related to the upcoming trip to Cambodia. Two adults and eighteen students will be leaving next week. I ask you to pray for safety and blessings for our team as they travel and every possible benefit for those associated with the Rapha Houses. JUST DO SOMETHING
As Linden scoured the news and commentary sources Wednesday with the hope of finding a subject he could present to you with his own perspective, almost everything he read or heard presented a very dim view of the current state of our country.

Then, the two following links came to his attention and the idea that if we would all do something, just a little, we may be able to turn the tide on this national tragedy the Obama regime has cursed us with. Surely a word to a friend, a contribution to a conservative candidate, a letter to the editor, or any one of a number of small tasks is not too much to ask of yourself. There is a huge reward to be won.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Once again I took a short walk in the cool of the morning before reading the paper. The walk was better than the paper. Talked to Ruth a bit…so far they are enjoying being back in the U.S. Later, picked up my mail and also got a haircut. Julie e-mailed me from England right after the funeral of her mother-in-law…I know they will be happy to return to the Chicago area. Later, Brian called: his daughter, Alison, is scheduled to return home from California this coming Sunday. I hope I get to see them before school starts. It is hard to believe that she will be a high school freshman this year.

I have been particularly pleased with the four music links I’ve presented for your approval so far this week. I hope you clicked on them. I believe I had never heard of Priscilla Herdman until last week, she has such a clear beautiful voice. I had hoped to find a link to “The Water Lily” by her but still have never heard it by her. The group that I linked to on Monday performed it well. I wonder if anybody will ever hear me singing one of my songs and wish they could hear more. I think not…the talent as a songwriter and as a singer does not merit such a blessing.

DANIEL
Taken as a captive to Babylon in 606 B C, Daniel was a man of GOD who was unswerving in his faith. Because of his ability to interpret the dreams of the rulers, he rose to prominence in the country.

Because of his faith, Daniel and his friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were one time thrown into a fiery furnace. They came out of it unscathed. Another time, because of his faith, Daniel was thrown into a den of lions: once again, he came to no harm.

In all, Daniel lived in Babylon about 72 years and at the end he was told to rest and then rise to receive his inheritance.

LINDEN'S LIFE
On Tuesday, I attended the Hendricks County GOP Roundtable at 7:00…it was a good breakfast meeting. Later, distributed my recyclables and went to the post office. Did a bit more writing late in the day. I’m well behind with this project. I haven’t heard from Julie since Saturday. She and Kenneth originally intended to return from England on Wednesday (today) but were running into additional items which need attention.
A message from TCM said that they need additional short term workers for two sessions. I would simply love to go but know that I am no longer strong enough.

A piece entitled “Spiritually Bankrupt” appeared on the editorial page of The Indianapolis Star on July 10. It was written by Jonathan Thomas who I believe to be a black man. He beautifully wrote what I would like to have the skill to bring you today.

Reading in the July 12 paper of that renowned racist, Al Sharpton, joining a gaggle of local black “reverends” in denouncing the police department treatment of a person who was at least coming close to resisting arrest strengthened my regard for the writing of Mr. Thomas.

In his writing, Mr. Thomas outlined prevalent problems in the black community, the failure of these black “leaders” and his thought that Sharpton is a disgrace. Linden will continue to practice and perhaps some day he will write something comparable.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Friday brought the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00…Gary Weedman, President of Johnson Bible College, gave a report regarding his educational interactions with the Chinese. There were representatives of efforts taking place in Haiti, India, And Kosovo also in attendance.
Ray came over from the church and repaired my leaky commode.
Enoch, from Ghana, had been staying at the Mission House while attending the NACC but I hadn’t seen him until today. Ron Hera had been shepherding him around.
On Saturday, friends came and picked Enoch up a little after noon, I called Donna and Kent and they came and gave the place a quick cleaning and the Chestnuts from Kosovo moved in around 4:00. I visited a bit with them and then went on to an anniversary affair for Joe and Patti Looker at the church.
Sunday brought church and Sunday school services followed by brunch with friends. We had a wonderful evening service under the shade trees on the North property. It closed with my Sunday school class serving brownies, cake, and ice cream. At home, Kent brought over some green beans he had grown and cooked. Good!

ATTACK?
Perhaps the thought generator for this posting and this title was when I heard, via a video, one of the well known liberals say that if Sarah Palin were to run for the Presidency the media would try to destroy her. There was no indication that he thought this to be a departure from news reporting and, instead, the embracing of partisan political activity.

The absence of in depth reporting regarding the government’s dithering approach to addressing the oil spill problem in the Gulf, the failure of the media to really report on the DOJ giving a racially based pass in regard to the voter intimidation case and the lack of substance in regard to screening the man appointed to head healthcare each provide an indictment of the media.

It would not be wrong for those of us who have complained long and loud about this situation to consider a new approach. What if major media advertisers were contacted each time and by each person who notices a news reporting lapse? The message could be, “your product may be good but why are you supporting a shoddy news reporting medium?” Just a thought.

WORTHLESS STATISTICS
The report that the unemployment rate is now 9.5 percent has little, if any, relationship to the people who are unemployed but would really prefer to be working.

A June report indicated that 125,000 people had lost their jobs and an additional 652,000 had just quit looking for work. Are they not all part of the unemployed pool? Probably if they were all figured into the unemployed percentage the figure would approach the horrendous record of Roosevelt after he had been in office a few years. It figures that he is a hero of Obama.

The posting today is the 700th of Linden’s career as a blogger. Never expected to be that prolific.

Went for a walk early Wednesday morning then went on to the credit union and the post office. Then, inside until it cools off. Paul had called about going to the North American Christian Convention in Indianapolis but, even though I would have enjoyed much of it, the day would have become tiring.
Received an e-mail from Julie saying she and Kenneth were almost ready to catch a plane to London. Traveling to attend a funeral and being involved with estate matters does not make for a happy trip.

EZEKIEL
Ezekiel was taken from Jerusalem to Babylon about 597 B C, Daniel had already been there a few years and he was well respected. Jeremiah, at that time was preaching the coming of the destruction of Jerusalem. This was the same message that Ezekiel brought to the exiles in Babylon.

GOD provided Ezekiel with many visions to enable him to carry the message to the people. As predicted, Jerusalem was destroyed. Later, Ezekiel told of the rebuilding: some of this message had to pertain to the arrival of Jesus Christ over 500 years later.

Since Linden is often not well organized at all, it should come as no surprise at all to you to learn that he has misplaced references to the likely result of letting the Bush tax cuts expire and the wrong-headed approach the current administration has taken to almost every logical approach a competent group would embrace.

Perhaps the link below will help and Linden will make another attempt to address this subject at a later date.

LINDEN'S LIFE
While it was yet reasonably cool, I went for a walk in the area. There was a large dog in the pathway I usually take so I took another, shorter route. Having once being attacked by a large dog, I am understandably a little nervous about risking it again. It was hot outside and I spent the day loafing inside. In the evening, I received a video of Brian on a boat going to one of the Lake Erie islands. Nice!

TRIFECTA H/T BRIAN
“Trifecta” is a term that is most often connected to a horse race bet that picks three horses. It also is used to refer to a three position win in almost any other circumstance.

It is said that one should not speak ill of the dead: speaking ill and speaking truth may, at times, be considered to be the same thing. In recent months Senators Byrd and Kennedy and Representative Murtha have proceeded on to their personal Judgment Day. Each after many years in their Congressional position.

These three were marked, in Linden’s opinion, with deep personal character flaws and a passion to spend taxpayer money. Surely those who replace them will be better. It is an obligation.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Men’s Prayer Breakfasts were the high points on Friday and Saturday. Sunday brought church, Sunday school, and brunch with friends. The remainder of the time was pretty uneventful. Did finally manage to do a little writing.
The music link I selected for today was also part of the links given for Independence Day weekend. It is such a touching song and based more on truth than one would prefer to think.

A.S.A.P.
At his reading at our Thursday breakfast meeting, Chuck presented the possibility that A.S.A.P., could mean “always say a prayer” instead of meaning “as soon as possible.” With this thought in mind, Linden considered what that could possibly mean to our white President. Not being sure of how his prayers may be constructed (he may be Muslim,) Linden decided to use “#1” as his address to the deity. The prayers could be constructed as follows:

#1, please cause the obvious unfitness of Kagan for the Supreme Court to have no ill effect on me.

#1, please cause the obvious mishandling of the black panther case by the DOJ to have no ill effect on me.

#1, please cause the foreign relations blunders, such as is the case with the Iranian development of nuclear capacity and our deserting our friends in Israel, Britain, Poland, and The Czech Republic, to have no ill effect on me.

#1, please cause my support of the criminals involved in illegal immigration to have no ill effect on me.

#1, please cause my ten weeks of dithering in regard to the oil spill in the Gulf to have no ill effect on me.

#1, please cause a curse to be put on Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal and
Jan Brewer.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Thursday brought our usual breakfast meeting…Paul was absent, eye appointment. Went to a couple of stores, the post office and watched some tennis for the first time ever. Had a nice phone visit with Brian. In the music link today, a hit song in 1938. There are better musical renditions of the song but the dancing shown in this link is fabulous. I believe it was in 1938 that I first realized that we were really poor. Think we moved three times that year…it was the sixth year of the Roosevelt depression continuation. Bad year. I was eight years old in January of that year.
I expect to present one of my relatively rare weekend postings tomorrow.

THE SUMMER OF RECOVERY

THE SUMMER OF RECOVERY
Somehow, Linden had never heard those words in reference to the summer of 2010 until listening to Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday. It has now been summer for a few days and recovery for many people can not start a day too soon. After all, billions of dollars have been spent in the name of job creation.

Also, Rush said that 13,000 private sector jobs had been created nationwide in June and that equaled 260 per state. Linden finds that to be not real impressive. Recently, Linden heard that about one half million government jobs had been created in recent months…these are funded by what is left of the productive, tax paying sector. Jimmy Carter looks better on a daily basis…this proves that nothing is impossible.

LINDEN'S LIFE
It was really cool outside Wednesday as I took my morning walk: stopped by the church for a minute as I neared the end of the walk. Brian called and e-mailed me a video he had taken with his camera. He and Sheri had a wonderful time in Las Vegas…I had given Brian a few dollars to “invest” for me: as is not unheard of for me, my investment rather quickly became worthless.
