TREASON!!!
It seems like three lifetimes ago, the fifty-eight years since Linden as a twenty-two year old heard the first of many cautions regarding engaging in any type of treasonous activity in the intelligence area.

The years have not lessened his respect and admiration for many of those involved in the various facets of making our nation more secure. Nor, has his belief changed a whit from believing that those guilty of gross incompetence or willful failure should pay the highest possible price.

Having heard what he would classify as a “mealy-mouthed” speech by Hillary Clinton in regard to this latest security breach, Linden is anything but confident that justice will be pursued. We should be very afraid.

Went by the church for a few minutes, on to the post office and then to a store. Had a long and very pleasant lunch with a friend. Donna’s sister had passed away so I went by the funeral home…talked to Kent and the others there.

HOLD YOUR BREATH FOR 30 DAYS
The four-year domination of the House of Representatives by the democrats and the control of the bad bill writing process is coming to an end. So, hold your breath and hang on.

There is still plenty of time for this group to do further damage to our country. If they don’t pass an extension of the Bush tax cuts then we will get an Obama tax increase. If they do pass an attempt to send all of we social security check recipients an additional check, we will mire our grandchildren in further debt.

There are, of course, many other areas where these defeated democrats may do further damage to our country. Hold your breath!

LINDEN'S LIFE
Friday: I was still full from the great meal with Sam and all on Thanksgiving. Not much activity during the day, Julie, Kenneth, and Jade came by in the late afternoon bringing great food from Grays. We had a good visit (never long enough) and two and a half year old Jade is always fun to be around. I read maybe three books to her and we watched “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.” Loved being with them and I had talked to Brian earlier in the day so my day was complete.

Saturday: I went to the post office and stopped by church for a bit then went home and stayed inside the rest of the day. Listened to the highly satisfactory Indiana-Purdue football game and later watched part of the Notre Dame game.

Sunday: Went to church and Sunday school then on to brunch with friends. Since I hadn’t slept well the previous night, took a nap, read the paper, fixed a meal that was less good than what I’d had the last two days, etc. Talked to Sam about some of the troubles I’m having manipulating Facebook: he sent some pictures from Thanksgiving to my Facebook pages. Good pictures!

AN IDEA, NOT YET FULLY DEVELOPED
Regardless of where you obtain your news reporting, it has been much dedicated to various slants on the attempt by a government bureaucracy to secure safe and secure airline flights for passengers without risking the animosity of the most likely trouble makers. Today, Linden brings you three links to writings on the subject and advances his own idea. At least two of the links have merit.

Linden’s idea, which should entail relatively little cost, involves providing pork for passengers. Ensure that each agreeable passenger is provided with a piece of bacon to eat and has a bit of lard smeared on a body part. This should segregate out all Muslims and all Jews. They would be tested further. If this idea were fully developed, there would be a means of identifying the Jews so they would be granted passage along with the pork eating passengers. Linden has great faith that the bureaucracy can further develop his fledgling idea.

LINDEN'S LIFE
As has been true for the previous seven years, Sam and Shirley invited me to share a Thanksgiving buffet with them at the former officers club at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. The building was built by Italian prisoners of war during WWII.

Their daughter, two grandchildren, the wife of the grandson and her mother joined with the three of us. It was a fun time of visiting and eating. The food was absolutely fabulous. The day was rainy and foggy at times, I almost had a wreck (not my fault) as I drove there and also got in the wrong lane twice which caused me to drive quite a little out of the way. It was a very nice day made even nicer by talking to both Brian and Julie after I got home.

THANKSGIVING

THANKSGIVING
In consideration of the day, Linden will use a slightly different format for his posting today.

Linden is thankful beyond belief that Jesus Christ is willing to carry the sin load for everyone who will believe; for the church he attends; for his two children and other family members; for really good friends; for being born in this country; for the founders of our country and for many of those who have followed in political leadership. These are just the first things that came to mind quickly.

Wednesday was a good day…had biscuits and gravy at Chick-fil-A, went to a store and on by the post office and church. Spent some time with a couple of projects and talked to Brian for a while.

My niece, Peggy, practically every week sends me a postcard with a message on it. I liked this one from her…”True Thanksgiving Is A Cultivated Habit Rather Than An Occasional Emphasis.”

ROMANS
This letter to the church in Rome was written by Paul, probably in 56 or 57 A D.

Paul had wanted to go to Rome for some time but his being called to minister in other areas had made the trip not yet possible. The letter is a teaching instrument touching on God’s plan and on righteousness.

Some believe that Peter was in Rome before Paul: if this were so, would not this letter have been addressed to Peter and would not Peter have been included among those who were mentioned at the conclusion of the letter?

This is the eight hundredth posting I’ve presented for your possible education and/or enjoyment. Although I may have occasionally linked to a musical selection previously, starting 10-27-09, I’ve included a song selection with every posting. In the Monday thru Friday sequence, they consist of country, classical, religious, once popular, and often the song of the year.

For me, Tuesday was a quiet day. I had a project that I wanted to move forward with but that didn’t happen. In the evening I watched Butler win a televised basketball game.

POLITICAL INACTION
It is probable that much unreported reorganization has been taking place in Washington and that would account for why there has been so little news of consequence coming from there.

Practically all of the news emphasis has been on the actions taking place in our airports to harass holiday travelers. Surely there is a better approach to handling national security.

Obama must have ran out of foreign countries to visit: it is rumored that he will visit Indiana today. He has difficulty working out of the white house.

The only very recent political news that has really reached out and grabbed Linden was the Republican movement against earmarks, the posting today will primarily focus on other stuff by other writers.

In this vein, Linden recommends the writing by Jedediah Bila in regard to wrongful perceptions of Sarah Palin. Linden has been impressed with the success of many Palin smear jobs and has been less than happy that many straight thinkers have accepted these smears as being factual.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Friday: Sandi came and cleaned my place while I was at Men’s Prayer Breakfast. Later, went to lunch with Dan and Diana and then did a small amount of work around the place.

Saturday: Had a Men’s Meeting at Kingsway church at 7:30. Had good food and a good meeting. Another good meeting with my writers group at 10:00. Thuc came out from Indianapolis about 1:00. We had a good lunch and an equally good visit. Thuc’s memory of both geography and history was better than mine.
Few things irritate me more than being insulted by hearing our national anthem being delivered in an unsatisfactory manner: It was sung as it should be at the start of the Army-Notre Dame game.

MINOR QUESTIONS
Perhaps insignificant should be part of the title. The first question, although not necessarily the most important, has to revolve around which country is our President now enjoying himself in. Even of less importance is will he be well received wherever he is.

I read that Clyburn has been granted a car and a driver by Pelosi in lieu of being granted a higher standing in that group. Who will pay for the car and driver? Is there too much discretionary funding in that particular pot?

I heard that some are uncomfortable with Bristol Palin winning in some sort of dancing contest. It is not likely that Linden will ever watch such a program but one must wonder if this discomfort has anything to do with the dislike (by some) of her mother.

What class of people would elect a person who goes directly from the election to an ethics hearing? Stupid???

A columnist Linden read today gratuitously accused Sarah Palin of not yet being ready for prime time. He offered no evidence. Linden has heard and read many of her speeches and writings and never fails to think that she is a superior communicator to practically all others. Oh well!!!

ACTS
This wonderful book, written by Luke about 30 to 35 years after the ascension of Jesus Christ, primarily addresses the spread of the gospel to the gentiles and throughout the known world. Peter is most important for his work toward formation of the early church in Jerusalem and Paul for his work as a missionary.

The travels of Paul were often difficult but he was completely dedicated to the task. He was almost certainly the most influential in the spread of the gospel by those involved in the early church. The book ends showing Paul as being well known and respected in Rome.

PLEASE DO NOTHING
As Linden considers the worthiness of the Congressional plan to disburse $250.00 each to some 53,000,000 Social Security recipients, he weighs the pro and con arguments for those affected.

For the Congressman, he or she can say that they care deeply for the old folks; the recipient can happily use this relative pittance for needs or wants; and Linden’s grandchildren, and untold millions of future taxpayers, will not yet be aware of the more than THIRTEEN BILLION DOLLARS PLUS INTEREST they will be saddled with. Linden loves his grandchildren too much to support this increase in his own personal finances.

If Linden lives long enough, it is his intention to contribute the bonus he may receive to any future primary or general election opponent of those who vote for this really bad idea. Naturally, he will encourage others to do the same.

About lunch time, I picked Thuc up at his house and took him to lunch at The Milano Inn. Good lunch! Good visit! On Veterans Day, he was one of the speakers at The American Legion in Franklin. Two of his children were present and the other was contacted by speaker phone while he was there. Very Nice!!

In the evening, seven of us from Plainfield Christian Church went to Cornerstone Church North of Brownsburg for a good dinner and a good program. It was for the support of Camp Allendale.

KEEP THE TEA HOT
One can not argue with the fact that the Tea Party movement had an enormous effect on the outcome of the recent election. It is unfortunate that a very small number of those chosen by the Tea Partiers did not win their races but the overall results were, simply wonderful.

This next week will be involved mostly with organizational type matters but the battle lines will also start to be drawn as the lame duck session begins. There is much to do and some of it must wait until after the first of the year. The most (and least) we should hope for in this lame duck session is that the Obama tax increases due to the expiration of the Bush tax cuts will not be accepted and that Healthcare will be derailed.

In the days to come, Linden will be posting his wish list and it is expected to be a continuing focus.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Friday brought the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at church at 6:00. Then, I had some minor morning tasks ending with meeting Sam for lunch at The Milano Inn. Good lunch! Good visit!

On Saturday, I went by Kent and Donna’s in the morning and went back in the evening for dinner. Had a very nice time and was just elated that it appears that her eye operation, in spite of the discomfort, was very worthwhile. I watched and listened to a bit of football in the afternoon and in the late evening watched my DVD of Rubye’s memorial service. It was, I believe, the first time I’ve watched it since shortly after her passing, more than seven years ago. It has been a long seven years.

Sunday morning brought church and Sunday school services, and brunch with friends. Later, I watched Colts football and didn’t do much else. Had a painful backache all day. Called Brenda, the Secretary at my last employment, in the evening. She is going through chemo treatment for cancer.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Thursday, after posting the blog contents, joined Bill, Chuck, Jack, and Paul for our usual breakfast meeting. As I was not feeling the best, I left a little earlier than usual. Actually, was a little less than perfect most of the day. The church staff prepared and served an absolutely wonderful luncheon for the “Golden Glows.” It is enough to make one wish to join the older persons group. Gary Griesser presented a great program filled with jokes, patriotic music, recognition of the various armed services and veterans in general. He has a great singing voice and it was really enjoyable. We also saw him at Johnson Bible College earlier in the year. In the evening, I joined Jack and Paul for a free Veterans Day dinner at Applebee’s: each of us had a shrimp dinner…it and the service was excellent and much appreciated. It was a really nice day, wish I had felt a tad better. I am so blest in so many ways…thank God I was born in this country.

Linden is one of the millions of men and women who was called to serve and regarded this service as being nothing other than fulfilling assigned duties to the best of their ability. One does feel proud of their individual effort. The links below will cause you to consider some of those who served or are serving.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Busy day but not sure much was accomplished. Did look at a fairly large collection of pictures as I was looking for some in particular. Dinner and program at church in the evening. Recently, I found a TV channel I could receive that often shows movies. Now, I’m wasting more time than ever. After returning home from church, I watched “The Winds Of Autumn” starring Jack Elam, my favorite actor. He, of course, was an outlaw.

JOHN
This Gospel was written by another of the disciples of Jesus sometime near the end of the first century. John shows Jesus to be both a human and the Son of God.

The book starts at about the time of John the Baptist and continues until after the resurrection. It contains many references to Jesus interacting with a variety of people.

Attended the GOP Roundtable at 7:00. Tim Berry our Indiana Auditor spoke. We don’t meet again until February. I did some work on a new project, corresponded with my book printer, and went by to see Donna and Kent. She is holding up well considering the restrictions her eye operation imposed. Donna LaRoche and Shirley Denis brought them lunch while I was there and Donna also brought me a tin of very good cookies.

HOUSE ELECTION RECAP
As Conservatives celebrate the results of the recent election, Linden thought he would name some of those he was particularly pleased with their win. There are others but here is a few:
Florida: Southerland, Webster, and West
Illinois: Kinzinger
Indiana: Stutzman, Rokita, Bucshon, and Young
Minnesota: Bachmann and Cravaack
Pennsylvania: Kelly and Barletta
South Dakota: Noem
Texas: Flores and Canseco

Unfortunately, not all of the democrats lost. Following is a partial list of those we would prefer to be rid of:
Arizona: Grijalva
California: Pelosi, Lee, Waxman, Becerra, Chu, Roybal-Allard, Waters, Harman, Richardson, and Sanchez
Florida: Schultz and Hastings
Georgia: Johnson and Lewis
Hawaii: Hanabusa
Illinois: Jackson
Indiana: Visclosky, Donnelly, and Carson
Maryland: Hoyer and Cummings
Massachusetts: Frank
Michigan: Levin, Conyers, and Dingell
Minnesota: Ellison
Maryland: Carnahan
Missouri: Cleaver
New York: Meeks, Nadler, Weiner, Rangel, Hinchey, and Owens
Ohio: Kucinich
South Carolina: Clyburn
Texas: Lee, Green, Hinojosa, Reyes, Gonzalex, and Cuellar
Washington: McDermott.

SENATE ELECTION RECAP
Although the party of evil retained control of the Senate there are still reasons to be happy and, of course, reasons for the opposite reaction. Some races remain undecided.

Happy examples:
Boozman in Arkansas
Rubio in Florida
Kirk in Illinois
Coats in Indiana
Paul in Kentucky
Blunt in Missouri
Ayotte in New Hampsire
Portman in Ohio
Toomey in Pennslylvania
Johnson in Wisconsin.

Is it mental illness that resulted in the following being among the winning democrats:
Boxer in California
Inouye in Hawaii
Mikulski in Maryland
Reid in Nevada
Gillibrand in New York
Schumer in New York
Wyden in Oregon
Leahy in Vermont
Murray in Washington?

On Friday, had Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00. Just normal activities the rest of the day.
Saturday brought the Men’s meeting at Kingsway at 7:30 then I went by see Donna and Kent McPhail…she had the same type of eye operation I had about ten years ago. The recuperation is really difficult. In the evening, got together with the Wash family: they will be going to Africa as missionaries in the relatively near future.
As usual, Sunday brought morning and evening church services, Sunday school, brunch with friends, paper reading and a nap. Had a nice phone visit with Brian.

PARTIAL ELECTION REVIEW
Since there are many commentators, it is not surprising that there are divergent opinions: some say the Tea Part effort was a failure and others call it a success. Linden believes it was an outstanding success. Some say that the Republicans had weak candidates in some races they lost: Linden believes that all of the candidates were selected in Republican primary elections by Republican primary voters and that it is insulting to downplay the results of this selection process.

From the standpoint of gauging the success of Linden’s financial interest in some of the elections, he considers Delaware, Indiana 7, Nevada and New York 23 to be greater losses to those within those Districts and States than they were to Linden. He is very pleased with the wins of Rokita in Indiana 4 and Bachmann in her District in Minnesota. The Alaska race is not yet settled. Overall, Linden is quite happy.

Election results were probably the main topic of conversation at our Thursday breakfast meeting but there were numerous other subjects addressed too. Always fun! I went by to see my mechanic, he said he would call me in the afternoon but never got that done. I wasted a lot of time waiting for his phone call but I really don’t mind wasting time.

POCKETS OF STUPIDITY?
There are many words yet to be written about the election results that are now becoming apparent to those who are interested. Linden will write some of them but not many today. As it stands now, of the seven candidates to which he sent a contribution, two won, four lost, and one is not yet settled. I suppose these results are no worse than his stock market selections.

Particularly disappointing for Linden and the thought behind the title of this piece were the Senate losses in Delaware and Nevada; some of the Indiana House results; the results in California; and hearing on the radio that 18,000 voters in Indianapolis cast a straight democrat ballot. I could vomit!

http://www.kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com/ is link I show below on a daily basis. Reading her November 2 posting brought tears to my eyes. What a girl!

On Wednesday I talked to Brian then went to Chick-fil-A for biscuits gravy. Then, dropped off papers for recycling, went to the post office, and on to the license branch to pay for new plates. In the evening, I had dinner and attended the program at church

LUKE
Written some time after the death of Jesus Christ (as is usually true, the date is uncertain) this book covers the life and activities of Jesus Christ from His birth until He ascends to heaven. Although the book has been beneficial to all mankind since it was written, it is thought to have been originally directed to the Greeks.

Practicing Christians who read this blog are already familiar with this beautifully written book. Those who are not familiar with it should read it.

Election day! I have looked forward to this day with great hope and anticipation. It was mostly a quiet day at home…I went to the post office and on to see Robert who does the work on my car.
Had good phone visits with both Brian and Julie.

LINDEN'S CANDIDATE SELECTION UPDATE
Earlier Linden scraped up enough money to make a contribution (modest) to seven different Congressional candidates. With today being the day that voters will make their selection, he will present his final pre election thoughts in regard to these Conservatives.

Alaska, Joe Miller: locked in what is considered to be a close race with a RINO who is running a write in campaign, it is interesting that more than 100 others filed last minute write in candidacy papers as a protest against Joe’s opponent.

Delaware, Christine O’Donnell: Linden believes this to be a close race. Interestingly, a presentation mix-up prevented an impressive last minute O’Donnell ad from being presented as planned. Christine is considered the underdog. Unfortunately.

Indiana 4, Todd Rokita is favored and Linden thinks it would be a tragedy if he is not the winner.

Indiana 7, Marvin Scott has, in Linden’s estimation, ran a good campaign. He is not favored but it would be a blessing if he is chosen.

Minnesota, Michele Bachmann is favored and it will be a tragedy if she is not selected.

Nevada, Sharron Angle is in a tight race against an unsavory opponent. Surely she will win out.

New York, Doug Hoffman, running as a Conservative, has thrown his support to the Republican in the hope that the democrat loses. It was the proper thing to do.

LINDEN'S LIFE
I met Mike and Joe for a very pleasant breakfast. Warren, our PCC Minister about 30 years ago, had called me and needed a sample election ballot…Mike had one for me.
I went to the post office, gas station, and grocery. Later, took the sample ballot to Warren…he, his wife, and I had a good visit. Warren played the harmonica some while I was there and it sounded very good. His wife is weak so he does all the cooking.
Later, I took him one of my CDs plus a copy of my latest book, “Making Meals, Managing Money, And Living Life.” I thought perhaps he could get some meal ideas from the book.
Some years ago I developed a hole in the macula of my left eye. The operation was not bad but the recuperative period (8 days and nights completely face down) was more than a little difficult. Thank God I stayed at Rubye’s house and she took excellent care of me. Tomorrow, Donna McPhail has an operation of the same type. Fortunately, Kent will be taking care of her but your prayers will be appreciated.
