To date 17 of the projects I have backed were successfully funded and 2 failed to meet their goal and received no funding. Unfortunately one of the unfunded efforts was my own “Ireland Is Calling” effort. The plan to go in September continues: my thanks to friends who have supported my hope.

COMMENTARY: I’M BACK FROM IRELAND
Since Linden has not read a paper in over three weeks and has only very sparingly listened to what passes as news broadcasts, he will not be presenting a politically flavored commentary today. Maybe tomorrow. He will only comment today that he had a very enjoyable time in Ohio before and after the trip to Ireland, which was probably the most enjoyable experience ever. Linden expects to be forever thankful that his son, Brian, accompanied him.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
Friday Brian and I reviewed the great number of pictures he had taken on our Ireland trip before he drove me the 325 miles back to Plainfield. We arrived about 4:15 and he immediately headed for home. I picked up a huge accumulation of mail and briefly scanned the emails and phone messages. Maybe sent out a few messages.
On Saturday Sam came out from Indianapolis: we had breakfast at the Avon Legion Post and had a nice visit. Shirley had him bring some of the vegetables from their garden. Later I started catching up on the accumulations and also watched Indiana win their football game. Had a nice phone visit with Julie and continued addressing the accumulation.
Sunday brought church and Sunday School attendance followed by brunch with friends. Later, granddaughter, Jade, called regarding a project she is working on for her 2nd grade class and I watched the Colts win a game that had looked out of reach.
An Irish song is your music selection for today. Brian found me a rock to bring home from there.

COMMENTARY: WITH A HEAVY HEART
I read that the democrats have the votes necessary to stop the Republican attempt to scuttle the Obama agreement with Iran. This is, of course, another attempt to weaken America. A link to the story appears below. I just have to take a few days away from blogging and the computer. Perhaps I will return to the task around the end of September.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
Thursday I walked a mile before meeting the guys for breakfast. Went to the post office, two stores, and did a load of wash. Stayed busy. Dan and Diana came by for coffee and conversation.
A hymn for the coming days:

COMMENTARY: ON BEING PECULIAR
I guess the condition of being peculiar can be attributed to almost anyone but because of the type of people almost all of his predecessors were and his departure from that mold, it seems most fitting for your President. I wish it were not so. The article linked below expands upon this thought and the comments that are appended to the article seem fitting.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
Wednesday started with me walking a mile then having breakfast at Chick-fil-A. Later, I went to a bank, returned some food containers, and went to the post office. In the evening, had dinner and attended a study at church. I just don’t understand why I consistently run out of time before I accomplish as much as I had hoped for.
Just to please Mary a happier song in a movie link is yours today:

COMMENTARY: REQUEST TO CNN
---LATE NEWS--- received after this commentary was prepared indicates that Carly Fiorina will be considered for the subject debate.

It is logical to believe that some person or persons at CNN was/were paid to establish the selection of Presidential candidates who should appear on their upcoming debate show. Wasted money!!! To even consider leaving Carly Fiorina out of this cast is ridiculous. Now a group is in the process of protesting the selection process. Details in the link below.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
Tuesday was a very productive day for me and not a moment too soon: I still was not feeling my usual perfect self but so much better than over the weekend. I dropped off recyclables, went to the post office, two banks, the credit union, a store, to Pier 14 and probably other places. Dan, Diana, and Jordan dropped by when I did get home. Also had a bit of productive correspondence. In the evening, had dinner at the Legion Post.
A sad love song is linked below.

COMMENTARY: AUGUST CHRISTIAN STUDIES
Unfortunately, I was sick the last weekend of the months so had one of my rare absences from the service. Kevin Carr led the services from the pulpit the first Sunday speaking on marriage. Steve White then led the next two services and Tim Gephart the next speaking on John 6. Sunday school was first led by Mike Isaacs and the next two by John
Lee speaking on the Holy Spirit. Then John led regarding 1 Corinthians. Wednesday evening dinners and studies resumed on the 19th: Bill Strafford/Mike Allen led the first one and two videos were presented on the 26th. Our Thursday men’s meeting led to me presenting the devotions three times and Bill once. The Friday Men’s Prayer meetings were led by Steve White twice and Bill Furman and Ed Furnas once each. Also attended Saturday meetings at Chapel Rock and Kingsway plus a Monday evening dinner and CDCMF program in support of Camp Allendale.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
On Monday I was still not 100% after feeling really punk over the weekend. So, later than usual, I made it to Chick-fil-A for breakfast. Made little progress addressing the things that need to be addressed before Saturday. Hope tomorrow will bring me energy.
Another great Mexican song linked below.
